Keep cleansing separate from finishing care

Choose a shampoo by its cleansing role and the directions on its label. Check where it is applied, how it is rinsed and the full ingredient list. A featured oil does not turn a shampoo into a finishing oil or tell you how the whole formula will feel.

When comparing prices, check the size and whether the listing is for a single bottle, a refill or a set. A shampoo-and-conditioner set contains separate steps; read what is included before comparing it with a shampoo sold on its own.
