What this routine helps with

Soften rough heels and elbows overnight.

Rough or dry heels and elbows without open wounds.

Heels and elbows have thicker, drier skin and little oil of their own. Wearing sandals and leaning on desks make them rougher still.

This is a comfort routine. For deep cracks that bleed or hurt, see a doctor.

Before you begin

Prickly pear seed oil or another body oil Clean cotton socks

  1. Step 1

    Wash and dampen

After the shower pat feet and elbows so they stay slightly damp.

  2. Step 2

    Apply the oil

Press 2–3 drops onto each heel and each elbow.

  3. Step 3

    Cover and sleep

Put on clean cotton socks. Wash them regularly.

Do not apply to broken skin. Clean the floor before walking: oil is slippery.

Do it twice a week

Start twice a week and move to nightly only if skin feels better and not greasy.
