What this routine helps with

Five minutes for the lengths, with dry roots and no extra oil on the scalp.

For women whose lengths feel dry before wearing a hijab, while their scalp feels comfortable. This is not a treatment for greasy roots.

When you are getting ready to leave, a heavy layer of oil is not the answer to flat roots. This short routine keeps the scalp separate from the lengths. It borrows the finishing role of Moroccan argan oil, rather than trying to make every part of your hair oily.

Use it between wash days when your roots are already clean and dry. If your scalp needs washing, choose the wash-day routine instead. Wearing a hijab is one context for this routine, not a rule about every woman's hair.

Before you begin

Set out a clean towel and the products you already use for the steps below. Read the directions on any new product before you begin.

  1. Step 1

    Check the roots first

Feel the roots before adding anything. If they are still wet after washing, allow them to dry fully before covering them. This five-minute routine does not include drying wet hair.

  2. Step 2

    Untangle without pulling

Gently separate the lengths, working from the ends upward. Keep a familiar comb and do not turn a quick morning finish into a vigorous brushing session.

  3. Step 3

Finish only the ends if needed

If the ends feel dry, follow the directions of a hair-use argan product and spread a small amount through your palms before smoothing it over the ends. Skip this step if the lengths already feel coated. Keep it away from roots that feel oily.

  4. Step 4

    Keep the finish comfortable

Check how the lengths feel before putting on your hijab or tying your hair. A useful finish should not leave you wanting to wash it straight off. Next time, use less or leave the oil out if it felt too heavy.

Check the feel of your lengths before covering your hair: you are looking for a finish you are comfortable wearing, not as much oil as possible. Next time, begin with the same small finishing choice. If the roots need washing, choose the scalp routine first rather than repeating this lengths-only step.

Use the products you already own where they suit the step. Argan is an optional finish, not a substitute for washing an oily scalp.

For lengths and ends

Argan hair products are commonly used on lengths or ends as a finishing step. Follow the label for damp or dry hair and do not assume every formula works the same way.

Pure oil or a blend

Look for Argania spinosa kernel oil in the ingredient list. A hair serum may also contain silicones, fragrance or other oils even when argan is prominent on the package.

Match it to your hair routine

For lengths and ends, start with a small amount so the hair does not feel weighed down. Read scalp products separately because their directions, timing and rinsing may be different.

When shopping in Indonesia, compare volume, the full ingredient list, directions for damp or dry hair and price by size—not only the bottle image or title claim.

Match the amount to the product in your hands

Pure argan oil, a silicone serum with argan, a mask and a leave-in conditioner are different products. A serum is often designed to spread lightly through the lengths, while a pure oil may feel heavier. Read whether the product is meant for pre-wash use, damp hair or dry hair.

For lengths and ends, spread a small amount between your palms before touching the hair and add more only if needed. For the scalp, use a product only when the label names scalp use and explains whether it must be rinsed; do not transfer the rules for an ends serum to the scalp.

Assessing marketplace options

A glossy-hair photograph does not explain the formula. Check the ingredient list, volume, pump or dropper, directions for damp or dry hair and whether the product must be rinsed. For a blend, assess argan as one part of the complete formula rather than the sole reason to buy.

Indonesia’s humidity, hijab use, hair length and washing frequency can all affect how much product feels comfortable. There is no universal dose; begin with the label and adjust gradually while noticing how the hair and scalp feel.

Common questions

Questions about this routine

Is argan oil used on damp or dry hair?

Either may be possible depending on the formula. Read whether your product is intended for damp hair, dry hair, pre-wash use or rinsing.

Can an argan ends serum be used on the scalp?

Only when the label clearly names scalp use. A lengths serum can have a different formula and directions.
